Syeda Abeera Amir | Minerva University | Computer Sciences and Social Sciences

Hey there! I'm Abeera, and I'm currently studying computer science and psychology at Minerva University. My life for the past two years has mostly been hopping from continent to continent as part of my college experience.
I love a good challenge, from solving puzzles and riddles to unpacking equations and behavior, you'll always find me intrigued.
Ice cream, poetry, and thoughtful conversations over a cup of coffee keep me alive :)

Andrew Geyko | University of New Mexico (UNM) | Computer Science, Mathematics

I'm a junior in computer science and mathematics at the University of New Mexico. Some of my interests include exploring the links between complexity and computation. Apart from that, I enjoy the outdoors and live music!

Nathan Hasegawa | Harvey Mudd College | Mathematics

Hello everyone! I'm Nathan Hasegawa, a rising junior studying mathematics at Harvey Mudd College. I'm especially interested in stochastic processes, probability theory, and differential equations. I look forward to meeting you!

Shloka Janapaty | Columbia University | Applied Mathematics

Shloka is a third-year studying Applied Mathematics at Columbia University. Her research background is in biogeochemistry, theoretical ecology, and global change dynamics, and she aims to use tools rooted in mathematics and computer science to investigate microbes in their changing chemical environment. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in her native Bay Area and reading.

Carina Kane | University of Chicago | Data Science B.S., Philosophy B.A.

Hi there! I’m incredibly excited to meet you all. I currently study philosophy and data science and seek to eventually pursue a career in complexity science. My particular interests surround philosophy of science, epistemology, cognitive and linguistic models, socioeconomic theory, and deep learning. Some things I spend my time doing are Argentine tango, solo traveling, reading literature (lots of Latin American lit), camping, folk music, sewing garments, and cooking. I can’t wait for summer!

Ky-Vinh Mai | University of California, Irvine | Data Science & Language Science

Call me Ky! I was raised in Santa Ana, California, but was born in the Philippines, yet I'm Vietnamese. I have a vested interest in computational linguistics, mycology, and love to talk about my dog. I'm incredibly grateful to be a part of this wonderful program, and excited to leverage this experience to grow intellectually and personally, but also develop my journey towards a PhD. I'm known to be very friendly and collaborative so don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with me!

Terhi Johanna Nurminen | University of Pennsylvania | Cognitive Science; Systems Science and Engineering

I'm Terhi, a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania studying Cognitive Science and Systems Engineering. I grew up in Finland and lived in Sweden for 2 years before coming to the US. My main research interest is variation in human cognition and information processing, and its neural correlates. From systems science, my absolute favorite approach is dynamical systems and I hope to apply that one way or another in my summer project. I can't wait to meet you all and have the best summer ever!

Anish Pandya | University of Texas at Austin | physics/mathematics

Hello! My name is Anish Pandya (he/they). I am a physics major and I am interested in the intersection of dynamics, information theory, and biology! I go to UT Austin (and I also grew up in Austin). I look forward to meeting all of you!

Juniper Rodriguez | Purdue University | Anthropology

Juniper Rodriguez is a junior studying anthropology at Purdue University with minors in CS, philosophy, and Design & Innovation. His research interests include how technology influences greater socio-cultural shifts as well as how communities can maintain self-sufficiency in a highly globalized world. He founded his own Arts & Culture magazine at his University, which spotlights creatives around his campus.
