Lagrangian coherent structure

- Description
Lagrangian coherent structures (LCSs) are the scale dependent key material lines that organize fluid-flow transport. They are dominant coherent structures which has been found in many geophysical systems such as oceans and the atmosphere. They act as a transport barriers to fluid flow. This means that flux across the LCS is negligible for the lifetime of the structure.
