Complexity Explorer turns 10!

Today marks the 10th anniversary of the first-ever Complexity Explorer course Introduction to Complexity with Melanie Mitchell. Former Vice President of Education at the Santa Fe Institute (SFI), Ginger Richardson, and Portland State University & SFI Professor, Melanie Mitchell created Complexity Explorer with the goal to create an online learning platform that would serve participants wanting a deeper understanding of complex systems.

"There were a few reasons I wanted to launch an online course platform at SFI." Melanie told us reflecting on the launch of Complexity Explorer in 2020. "Many people really wanted to come to SFI’s summer school or one of our short courses, but were unable to, due to financial or other logistical reasons, and also because we simply didn’t have enough space!   Ginger and I were looking for a creative way to enable people to be involved with SFI, to learn about complex systems." In 2023, we are celebrating 10 successful years of Complexity Explorer offerings. We’ve redesigned the look of the website and have been improving functionality and features. Our exceptional community of learners is what makes Complexity Explorer unique. We want to hear from you! Drop us a note at admin@complexityexplorer.org and let us know what you think of our new look and what features we could improve in 2023.

Special thanks to Bot & Rose
