Question 1: Recall that multiplying a matrix by a scalar is done by multiplying each matrix component by that scalar. 

 

Question 2: First calculate  2B=\begin{bmatrix} 0 & 2 \\ 2 & 0\end{bmatrix}.   Then subtract this component-wise from A:  A-2B = \begin{bmatrix} -2 & -1 \\ -2 & 4 \end{bmatrix}.
